After cycling 3,133 miles in 57 days, Steve Pulley dipped his tire into the surf at Sullivan's Island. It was the end of his cross-country journey that started in San Diego on a date marking his six years of sobriety. Deep brain stimulation, DBS, is a surgical treatment involving the implantation of a medical device called a brain pacemaker, which sends electrical impulses to specific parts of the brain. In certain patients DBS is used to help treat such disorders at Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, etc.
