Best in Show! The 4th Annual MUSC W.O.O.F. awards are here. In 2009 an award system was initiated through the FIRM Ground Fall Prevention program, known as the W.O.O.F. (With Out One Fall) award. This award recognizes nursing units who have succeeded in keeping their fall rates low.

Deep brain stimulation, DBS, is a surgical treatment involving the implantation of a medical device called a brain pacemaker, which sends electrical impulses to specific parts of the brain. In certain patients DBS is used to help treat such disorders at Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, etc.

By using DBS, deep brain stimulation, a team of MUSC (Medical University of South Carolina) doctors are helping a patient who has Parkinson's Disease and lifelong OCD, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
