Description of Program
The main interests of my laboratory relate to cancer pharmacology, with focus on studying the molecular mechanisms of action of established and experimental anticancer drugs and on designing and developing new drugs against novel molecular targets.  Three projects are currently in progress:

            1)  biochemistry and pharmacology of protein lipidating enzymes;
            2)  biochemistry and pharmacology of sphingosine kinase; and
            3) mechanism-based drug discovery.

These efforts all utilize a multidisciplinary approach which includes biochemical characterization of selected targets for new drugs, synthesis of novel inhibitors of these targets, and pharmacological evaluation of the activities of these compounds in both in vitro and in vivo model systems.
