| | Current Perspectives on the Etiology of Eating Disorders | | At the completion of this session, the participant should be able to: | 1) | Be familiar with the major risk factors identified for AN and BN along a biopsychosocial continuum. | 2) | Understand the role of the "3 P's" (predisposing, precipitating, and perpetuating factors) in the etiology of the eating disorders. | 3) | Be familiar with how genetic/biological factors and psychosocial/environmental factors interact to produce eating disorders and other psychiatric disorders. | | 4) | Be able to identify risk factors that first appear in childhood and adolescence, including childhood abuse, which have important relevance for prevention efforts. | | |
