Warachal E. Faison, M.D.
Warachal Faison, MD is Medical Director, US Medical Affairs, Pain & Neuroscience, Pfizer, Inc. Prior to joining Pfizer, Dr. Faison was Clinical Director of the Alzheimer’s Research and Clinical Programs at the Medical University of South Carolina from 2005-2008. She received a BS degree in biology from North Carolina Central University. She received her MD and completed residency training and chief residency in psychiatry at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Faison completed a clinical geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.
Active in clinical research and outreach to older adults, Dr. Faison’s major areas of interest include minority recruitment into clinical trials as well as risks and protective factors in the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Faison has written manuscripts and book chapters related to Alzheimer’s disease and geriatric psychiatry. She has been active in the MUSC community, serving on the MUSC IRB, as well as nationally in the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, Geriatric Mental Health Foundation, American Psychiatric Association, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, and the Alzheimer’s Association. She was recently appointed to the APA DSM-V Work Group on Neurocognitive Disorders . She now serves as an advisor to the APA DSM-V Work Group on Neurocognitive Disorders as well as the Lifespan Development Study Group.
