        Daniel Varon, MD

  
SPEAKER BIO

Dr. Varon completed his medical school training in Bogota, Colombia at Javeriana University.  He then went on to complete a combined Neurology/Psychiatry residency at the Medical University of South Carolina.  He implemented and ran a Memory Disorders Clinic in Bogota Colombia.  In 2007 he went to University of Pittsburgh to complete a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Western Psychiatric Institute.  He was Medical Director for the Partial Hospitalization Program and Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatric Unit at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital in Baltimore and since March of 2009 he joined Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach as the Associate Medical Director of the Wien Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorders where he has participated in several research projects and clinical trials related to diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's Disease, other dementias and psychiatric conditions in the elderly . 

  
      OBJECTIVES                                                                                                                                                               
       At the completion of this session, the participant will be able to:
       

1.  Learn which imaging tools are currently available and can be used to evaluate patients with cognitive disorders.
2.  Identify which techniques are most appropriate in different settings depending on the patient’s presentation.
3.  Interpret what a positive or negative result means in patient who present with a cognitive disorder.
