In the 6-week 3rd-Year Psychiatry Clerkship, students are assigned to one of the inpatient units or consult services at the Institute of Psychiatry (IOP) or the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC).

In addition, students attend either a half or whole day ancillary/outpatient experience per week for 5 weeks. Ancillary experiences include:

  • Charleston/Dorchester County Mental Health
  • Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Fetter Family Health Clinic
  • Forensic Psychiatry
  • Geriatric Psychiatry
  • IOP Psychosomatic Medicine Consults
  • MUSC Center for Drug & Alcohol Programs
  • MUSC Day Treatment Program  
  • Nursing Home Visits
  • Outpatient Substance Abuse Clinic
  • Perinatal Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinic at the VA
  • Substance Abuse Treatment Clinic (SATC)
  • VA Mental Health Inpatient
  • VA Psychosomatic Medicine Consults
