Wendy Balliet, Ph.D.
Biobehavioral Medicine Division
Dr. Balliet completed her B.A. in psychology at Ithaca College and her M.S. and Ph.D. in counseling psychology with a health psychology concentration at Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed her clinical psychology internship at the University of Florida Health Science Center where her major rotation was Medical Psychology. Dr. Balliet finished her post-doctoral training in behavioral medicine at MUSC and currently is a clinical supervisor for the behavioral medicine rotation in the behavioral medicine clinic and an Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at MUSC.
Clinical and/or Research Expertise
Transplant psychology and psychosocial evaluations for solid organ and bone marrow transplantation. Evaluation and psychosocial management of patients undergoing pancreatectomy with auto-islet cell transplantation and visceral pain management. Social support and unsupportive responses in the context of coping with chronic medical illness. Psychosocial oncology and posttraumatic growth.
