 Biographical Sketch

Dr. Denier is a Research Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), and a clinical psychologist on the PTSD Clinical Team (PCT) at the Ralph H. Johnson/Charleston VA Medical Center.  She received her B.A. in psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the State University of New York at Binghamton.  She completed her clinical internship at the Jackson, Mississippi Medical Center-VAMC Consortium, and was on staff at the Jackson VAMC for several years before moving to Oxford, Mississippi, where she worked in community mental health and taught at Ole Miss.  Since moving to Charleston, Dr. Denier has been involved in teaching and research at MUSC, and has been on the medical staff at the VAMC, where she currently serves as PTSD clinic coordinator.  She is involved in assessment, therapy, patient care administration, and treatment outcome research, and provides consultation to medical center staff and community providers regarding trauma and treatment.  She provides services at the Charleston facility as well as to its six community-based outpatient clinics in South Carolina and Georgia.  Dr. Denier also serves as the Charleston VAMC's Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Coordinator, conducting outreach and staff training and providing clinical care.
