Biographical Sketch

Dr. Susan Knight is Board-Certified in Forensic Psychology with expertise in criminal forensic psychology. After receiving her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, she completed a Fellowship in Forensic Psychology at the USC-Keck School of Medicine (Institute of Psychiatry, Law and Behavioral Science) in Los Angeles, California. Specialty practice areas include assessment of legal competencies, criminal responsibility, diminished capacity, violence risk assessments, sentencing/dispositional assessments, sexual offender evaluations and psychological autopsies. She also conducts fitness for duty evaluations for a variety of professional populations. She has worked with forensic populations in the county, state, and federal prison systems, has experience in conducting pre-trial and post-trial psychological forensic evaluations, and in providing consultation for both federal and state court systems. She has been qualified as an expert witness in federal court and in South Carolina General Sessions Court. In addition to her clinical case work, she also provides supervision, training and teaching of students, residents and fellows as well as having had an adjunct faculty position at the Charleston School of Law where she has taught a course on mental health law.
