Kirk Meekins, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina. He earned his BS degree from Duke University where he majored in Biology and Environmental Sciences and Policy. He earned his MD at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA before completing his General Psychiatry residency training at the University of Virginia. Dr. Meekins then completed fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at MUSC where he joined the faculty in 2009.
Dr. Meekins serves as the Medical Director for the MUSC Community Psychiatry Clinic where he has an outpatient practice serving children, adolescents, and adults. In addition, he is an attending psychiatrist at the MUSC STAR program, a day treatment program for children and adolescents with severe behavioral and emotional disturbances. Dr. Meekins is also involved in clinical and didactic education for child and adolescent psychiatry fellows.
