Karen Perlmutter, LISW-CP is a Clinical Instructor at the Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs (CDAP) in the Institute of Psychiatry. Karen earned her Masters in Social Work at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in 2007. She has worked as a substance abuse therapist since 2007and has particular interest in working with patients suffering from co-occurring disorders. Her training and experience lies in Solution-Focused Strength-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Karen began her faculty appointment at MUSC in 2011. Prior to this, she provided substance abuse services through a non-profit organization in Wilmington, NC. She currently provides individual and group therapy. | |
