Biographical Sketch

Lisa Saldana received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia, in 2003. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at the Family Services Research Center in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina . Dr. Saldana completed her clinical internship at La Rabida Children's Hospital in Chicago, with an emphasis in assessment and treatment of child maltreatment and trauma. Her research interests include development and validation of empirically supported interventions for intentional (i.e., maltreatment) and unintentional (i.e., “accidental”) child injuries, methods of providing services for disadvantaged children and their families, and children's reactions to negative life events. Dr. Saldana is currently working on NIH funded research grants evaluating the clinical and cost effectiveness of MST in the treatment of child maltreatment and juvenile sexual offending, and on a grant funded by The Annie E. Casey evaluating research integrating MST and Reinforcement-Based Therapy (with Stitzer & Jones, Johns Hopkins) for substance abusing maltreating families.
