Biographical Sketch

Dr. Stewart received his M.D. from Temple University and went on to obtain his M.S. in Clinical Research from MUSC. Prior to joining the Department in 2006, Dr. Stewart was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the SUNY-Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. His current research focuses on the discovery and development of biomarkers for unhealthy alcohol use and alcohol-related diseases, and has been funded by the National Institutes of Health since 2004. Clinically, he serves as the medical consultant for patients admitted to the Institute of Psychiatry, and works closely with the attending physicians, residents, and other healthcare personnel in that role.
