Biographical Sketch
Ms. Valerio received her BA in Dance-Movement Therapy from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio where she then continued to acquire a MA in the same field with a concentration in Geriatrics at Goucher College, Towson, Maryland.  Several years later, she moved her practice to Clinical Social Work receiving her MSW from the University of Maryland at Baltimore.  A Clinical Social Work Fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center in New Haven, Connecticut initiated her attention to the young child and adolescent population combined with a parent therapy, couple therapy and family therapy focus never leaving behind her interest in the elderly.

In addition to her academic background, Ms. Valerio has been trained for the inter-related fields of Substance Abuse, Divorce and Custody Family Mediation, Victim/Offender Mediation, EMDR; a therapeutic technique for trauma related issues, Ministerial training and a Heart-Math Certification. She is a Board Certified Diplomat (BCD) in Social Work and a Certified Employee Assistance Specialist.

She is currently functioning as a psychotherapist or counselor for the Employees Assistance Program for MUSC, MUHA and MUSC Physicians as well as the Charleston School of Law and other entities as well as for the Comprehensive Psychiatric Care Specialist Outpatient practice.
