Biographical Sketch
Dr. VanKirk earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Scranton, and completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology at Drexel University in Philadelphia.  She completed her clinical psychology internship through the Charleston Consortium (MUSC/VAMC) for Internship Training in Clinical Psychology in 2004, and went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Psychiatry/Neuropsychiatry.  She has been a licensed clinical psychologist since 2006, and has been active in clinical, research and teaching programs at MUSC since that time.  She has also been a full-time neuropsychologist at the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC since 2008.

Clinical Expertise:
Adult neuropsychological assessment and interventions
Cognitive remediation for adults and geriatric populations
Forensic psychology:  violence risk assessment and cognitive capacity evaluation

Research Interests:
Outcomes and utility associated with neuropsychological assessment
