Michael R. McCart, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor at the Family Services Research Center in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2006. He completed a clinical internship and a post-doctoral research fellowship at MUSC’s National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center. Dr. McCart's research interests focus on the development, evaluation, and dissemination of evidence-based interventions for disruptive behavior disorders, substance abuse, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among adolescents. Dr. McCart is currently working on NIDA-funded grants evaluating interventions for reducing substance use and risky sexual behavior among youth involved in juvenile drug court. He is also involved in a services research project evaluating the effects of Multisystemic Therapy as a dispositional alternative for youth involved in the juvenile justice system in New York City. In addition, Dr. McCart is conducting a NARSAD-funded study that evaluates whether D-Cycloserine augments the effects of exposure therapy for pediatric PTSD.
