Owen Stanley Shoemaker III, Ph.D.

Dr. Shoemaker received his M.S. in Clinical Psychology in 1984 from Virginia Commonwealth University, and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the same university in 1989. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at MUSC in 1987, and joined MUSC's faculty in 1990. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Science's Youth Division. Since 1995, he has also served as the Program Director for MUSC's IMPACT programs - day treatment and outpatient programs for conduct disordered preschool children. He is a Mental Health Consultant for both the BCD Head Start Programs of Charleston County and the Migrant Headstart Program, and since 2003 has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Research interests: treatment of conduct disorder and other behavioral problems in children -in particular, preschool-aged children
