Office of Research Development
The Office of Research Development (ORD) identifies extramural funding opportunities and assists faculty members in preparing competitive proposals, with an emphasis on strategic research areas prioritized by the colleges and university administration, including funding opportunities for institutional research resources and infrastructure. Established in January 1994, the ORD has grown from a one person office to a strategic, institutional resource for research infrastructure program growth and faculty development at MUSC. Four seasoned staff members and a part-time staff provide a variety of services, with major functions including:
- Proposal Development
- Research Funding Alerts
- Database Management for Research Proposal Development and Reporting
- Research Communications
Most recently, ORD assisted with the submission of 33 proposals totaling nearly $76M, resulting in the award of 18 grants totaling about $28M.
