Acclimation Policy

From the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, 8th Ed., “Regardless of whether the animals are quarantined, newly received animals should be given a period for physiologic, behavioral, and nutritional acclimation before their use.1

Accordingly, rabbits and large animals are acclimated for a minimum of 7 days prior to use, unless their only use will be euthanasia for tissue collection. Rodents are acclimated for a minimum of 72 hours, unless their only use will be euthanasia for tissue collection.(1/13)
