South Carolina Children’s Educational Surveillance Study | SUCCESS

Many people have heard that developmental problems such as autism are on the rise. While some people think that these problems are epidemic, others think that these types of disorders are being over-diagnosed in children. The goal of the South Carolina Children’s Educational Surveillance Study (SUCCESS) is to better understand the range of typical development, and to distinguish between children with no social challenges, those with only occasional difficulties, and those who have more serious problems such as autism spectrum disorders. While similar studies have been conducted in other countries, this is the largest effort of its type to ever be conducted in the United States.
