Rana C. Pullatt, MD MS MRCS FACS
Dr. Pullatt is as an Associate Professor of Surgery specializing in general and gastrointestinal surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a highly skilled Laparoscopic Surgeon and specializes in weight loss surgery, laparoscopic colon surgery, laparoscopic hernia surgery laparoscopic foregut surgery and robotic surgery. He is actively involved in the American Society for metabolic and bariatric surgery and specifically involved with the group advancing innovative procedures in weight loss surgery. He is also involved in several committees in SAGES, which is the premier organization in laparoscopic surgery and has helped train other surgeons in innovative procedures. He has presented several surgical videos in national and regional meetings detailing techniques in laparoscopic surgery. Among his many accomplishments, he performed the first Laparoscopic Duodenal Switch in the State of South Carolina and MUSC is currently the only center in South Carolina offering the Duodenal Switch to Bariatric Surgery patients. He also performed the first Robotic Gastric bypass in the Low Country and is the only one in the MUSC System offering Robotic Single Site Cholecystectomy. He serves as Director of Bariatric Surgery VISN-7, which provides bariatric surgery for veterans from South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama. He also serves as the Director of the Robotic Surgery Program at the Medical University of South Carolina.
