Dr. Robison, a native Texan, obtained his undergraduate degree from Rice University. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio with a sponsorship from the United States Air Force. After his General Surgery Residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, he was appointed a Clinical and Research Fellow in Vascular Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He returned to active duty at Wilford Hall as an attending physician until 1987. He joined the faculty of the Medical University of South Carolina where he has focused exclusively on vascular surgery.

Dr Robison is certified by the American Board of Surgery and has recertified in Vascular Surgery. He is a member of numerous prestigious surgical societies, including the American College of Surgeons, The Society for Vascular Surgery (Distinguished Fellow), and the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery. His expertise covers the broad expanse of vascular problems, including being a RVT in vascular laboratory diagnostic imaging and interpretation. Besides his numerous presentations and publications on lower extremity arterial disease, carotid disease, and stroke, and abdominal aortic aneurysms, Dr. Robison has been an advocate of adapting new technologies to the assessment and management of vascular disease and using a careful assessment of both their outcomes and costs. Together with his associate in Interventional Radiology, Renan Uflacker, he pioneered the management of aortic aneurysms with endovascular stent grafting in South Carolina in 1996. Not only does he have numerous publications, but Dr. Robison has received several teaching awards and acknowledgements from both students and residents training in surgery. He has also been recognized by his peers and was elected President of the Medical Staff at Medical University Hospital from 2004-2006, as well as recognized as one of "America's Top Surgeons" and "Best Doctors" for the last several years. He is an enthusiastic proponent of compassionate, informed, and collaborative medical care.
