Procedures Commonly Performed or Supervised by Vascular Surgery

  • Vascular Laboratory Diagnostic Studies
    •   Carotid Artery Evaluation for Stroke Risk
    •  Aortic Aneurysm evaluation Doppler derived pressures of extremities to assess circulation problems 
    • Assessment of blood supply to arteries to abdominal organs 
    • Assessment of veins for clots and varicosities
  • Arteriograms using direct injection of contrast (radioopaque dye) into arteries or veins to determine blockage.
  • Angioplasty and stenting of peripheral arteries with obstruction to flow
  • Open surgical repair or bypass of damaged or blocked arteries, using either vein or prosthetic bypass if necessary
