Residency and Fellowship Programs

The MUSC Department of Surgery fosters young surgeons into leadership positions in community practice as well as academic medicine. Our nationally and internationally prominent teaching faculty contain a deep depth of knowledge and experience, offering a remarkable breadth of clinical experience.

General Surgery 

The general surgery residency is a five-year program encompassing all aspects of general surgery as well as the surgical specialities.

Plastic Surgery Fellowship

Plastic Surgery residents are trained in the full range of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.  

Cardiothoracic Surgery Integrated

The Cardiothoracic Surgery residency is a six-year integrated program in which a resident is matched out of medical school at the PG-1 level. 

Surgical Critical Care Fellowship

The Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program provides comprehensive training in all aspects of the specialty. 

Plastic Surgery Integrated

Plastic Surgery residents are trained in the full range of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. 

Vascular Surgery Integrated

The Vascular Surgery Program produces well-rounded trainees in all aspects of vascular surgery.  

International Rotation

Residents experience the challenges and achievements of international service during an elective rotation at Mbingo Baptist Hospital in Cameroon.
