Michael Yost, Ph.D. received a Certificate of Recognition from the State of South Carolina and the South Carolina Academy of Science, signed by Governor Nikki Haley, for excellence in scientific awareness.

Congratulations to Dr. Prabhakar Baliga, Chairman MUSC Department of Surgery. Dr. Baliga was recently named one of three recipients of the 2016 MUSC Foundation Outstanding Clinician Award, which honors full-time faculty who make meritorious contributions to patient care at MUSC. Dr. Baliga shares this honor with Dr. Meredith Holcomb, Clinical Director, Cochlear Implant Program and Dr. Elizabeth Wallis, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. A formal recognition scheduled during the Fall Faculty Convocation occurs on Tuesday, August 23, at 4 p.m.   

Andrea Abbott, M.D., passed the Complex General Surgical Oncology Boards. Surgeons certified in Complex General Surgical Oncology have specific knowledge and skills related to the diagnosis, multidisciplinary treatment and rehabilitation required by patients with cancer, especially those with requiring complex surgical oncology procedures or with rare or unusual cancers. To qualify for certification, surgeons must complete at 2 to 3 year fellowship and pass both an oral and written board examination.


Scott D. Johnson, M.D., received the 2016 Carolyn E. Reed, M.D. Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery. The Fellowship is given annually to a Cardiothoracic Resident who demonstrates an eagerness to learn and teach, a dedication to the specialty and enthusiasm for making a difference.

Satish Nadig, M.D., Ph.D. Congratulations to Dr. Satish Nadig on being selected as a 2015 Forty Under 40 winner by the Charleston Regional Business Journal. 
Joseph Sakran, MDCongratulations to Dr. Joseph Sakran on being awarded the ACS / Pfizer Volunteerism Award for 2014.  This is very high recognition for Joe's work in Global Health and comes on the heels of another recent national honor, being accepted to the Harvard Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University for a one year fellowship. 
Andre Hebra, MDCongratulations to Dr. Andre Hebra for receiving a Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching  
Dr. Bradley Dr. KavaranaCongratulations to Scott Bradley, MD, Minoo Kavarana, MD and the entire Section of Pediatric CT Surgery Team for being Nationally ranked #17 among 76 facilities ranked in one or more of the 10 pediatric specialties in the 2011-2012 version of Best Children's Hospital published by U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital Rankings. 
Congratulations to Dr. Fred Crawford, Past Chairman of the Department of Surgery, on recieving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Association of Thoracic Surgery.  Dr. Crawford is one of only five to ever recieve this award.
