Changes to the Student After-Hours Parking Program

Effective Date: Monday, June 29, 2009

Program Change: Due to the permanent closing of patient parking lot G on or about July 1 the location of the student after-hours program will be changed from G lot to the President Street employee parking garage.

Hours of Service: 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and 24 hours on Saturdays, Sundays and major holidays. Note: Due to the change to an employee parking facility, the program hours are being adjusted from a 4:00 p.m. entry to agree with the employee after-hours program 4:30 p.m. entry.

Program Conditions: The student after-hours parking program is not designed to coincide with any particular student schedule or to replace a personal parking arrangement. The program hours reflect the time when there is space in the MUSC parking system which is not occupied by participants in the monthly-contract parking system.

Authorization/Registration: Students who wish to participate in the after-hours program are not required at this time to register with the Office of Parking Management. If registration should become necessary notification to students will be made.

Garage Ingress and Egress: No access device will be required to enter and exit the President Street garage during program hours. Upon presentation to the attendant of the student ID students will be allowed to enter the garage. Exits will be facilitated by the attendant at the President Street exit. During unattended hours gates will be in the open and upright position.

Parking Within the Garage: Students may park in any available space in the garage with attention given to any space which may be identified for a specific purpose, such as handicap parking.

Enforcement: Parking enforcement takes place from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Vehicles parked in the President Street garage between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. must display either an E lot decal or a temporary MUSC permit or risk receiving a parking citation.

Pedestrian Access and Safety: The MUSC Department of Public Safety provides safety and security services for all student and employee parking locations. There will be no pedestrian pathway through G lot after June 28. City sidewalks along President and other campus streets will be utilized.

No Parking in Patient Facilities/Personal Parking for Students: Neither students nor employees are authorized to park in patient parking locations at any time (except when they are here as patients themselves). In order to insure adequate parking for MUSC patients and visitors unauthorized persons may be turned away from MUSC patient parking facilities and are subject to receiving parking citations for unauthorized parking in a patient facility. There are vacancies in the student and employee monthly-contract parking systems. Students should contact the Office of Parking Management to make personal parking arrangements that support them during weekday patient hours.
