Scheduling and Billing
All services performed through the MUSC Biosafety Cabinet Service Program must be scheduled through the Biosafety Officer. Site visits will be arranged to allow for optimum efficiency and minimization of costs. Tentative dates for site visits have been set for September, November, February, May and July to accomodate existing clusters of biosafety cabinet recertification dates. Additional site visits can be scheduled as needed.
The contractor performing these services must travel to MUSC from out of state as there are no accredited biosafety cabinet certifiers in South Carolina. No travel fees will be incurred for site visits as long as MUSC provides a minimum of 20 pieces of equipment to certify per site visit. The Biosafety Officer will coordinate the certification of biosafety cabinets throughout MUSC to ensure sufficient volume to avoid travel fees. Groups requiring immediate site visits that do not encompass at least 20 certifications will be charged a $200 travel fee for expedited service.
All billing will be handled through the Occupational Safety and Health Programs Office. Payments can be made through interdepartmental transfer. Bills can be sent to building managers, departments or individual labs. A $25 administrative fee will be charged for delinquent payments.
