Privacy Statement

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is committed to insuring the privacy and safety of our visitors. Our Web site, www.muschealth.com, contains many forms through which users may request information or supply feedback to directly to MUSC.  In some cases, telephone numbers, return addresses or e-mail addresses are required so that we may supply you with the requested information. In certain cases, correct names and addresses maybe required in order to process credit card payments to the Medical Center. 

MUSC may also track where you go or what you read in our Web site so that we can supply you with effective follow up information, but only if you have given us explicit permission to do so by completing one of our information request forms that asks you if we may do so.  After completing and information request form, we may contact you if appropriate in an attempt to provide you with the information you requested. MUSC in most cases does not provide any information supplied on Web forms to any outside organization for any reason (other than where we may be required to by law, or as necessary to process credit card information). In certain cases information collected maybe shared with vendors or suppliers associated with MUSC. In all such cases forms collecting such information are clearly marked to indicate that such information is being shared with trusted parties other than MUSC, UMA and it’s affiliates, or the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA).

MUSC also routinely performs web site traffic analyses through which we track statistics such as which pages are visited in what order, where users come from, and how long users spend on our site. Such information is used primarily for site improvement and in an attempt to deliver better information to the end user. MUSC does not associate such information with specific identities of parties who may visit our site.

Please note that all forms which collect personal information are encrypted to protect your privacy. Once the information is sent to our site, it is kept in a secure database where it is only available to authorized MUSC personnel.

While we sometimes ask for credit card numbers, and either pass them on to a credit card processing service or process them manually, we do not store credit card information online.
