Catherine D. DeAngelis, MD, MPH, Editor-in-Chief of JAMA and Scientific Publications and Professor, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, presented her seminar and received the 2008 MUSC Eminent Scholar Award.

Jeb Hallett, MD, Clinical Professor of Surgery, MUSC, Director of the Roper Hospital Heart and Vascular Center and Former Associate Dean of Faculty at the Mayo Clinic, presented his seminar “How to Mentor a Women: Concrete Strategies for Success.”

Lina Austin, MD, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, MUSC, Director, Office of MUSC University Communications, CEO of MedYouNet, LLC and Author of the book “What’s Holding You Back: Eight Critical Steps for Women’s Success” presented her workshops “Motivation: Creating Your Strategic Plan Risk Taking vs. Nest Building: Building Your Academic Portfolio Focusing on Your Intellectual Development” and “Creative Problem Finding: How to Identify a Great Problem that Defines Your Career Path.”

September 24, 2008 Colloquium: Women Scholars Initiative Update
Rosalie Crouch, Ph.D., and the Women Scholars Initiative committee presented a summary of the initiative and discussed next steps with the audience. A networking reception followed the program.
