December 3, 2010  Roundtable Series: Career-Life Balance
The first MUSC Women Scholars Roundtable featured a small, intimate conversation between members of the MUSC women faculty and Dr. Etta Pisano, MUSC Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean, MUSC College of Medicine. The topic of the discussion was career-life balance. The next MUSC Women Scholars Roundtable will be held in February 2011.

November 15, 2010 Workshop: Improving Work-Life Satisfaction
The MUSC Women Scholars Initiative and the MUSC Postdoctoral Association co-hosted a workshop entitled "Improving Work-Life Satisfaction for Women (and Men) in Science." This workshop was brought to MUSC by the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) and the Elsevier Foundation. The MUSC Institutional membership to AWIS is funded by the MUSC Women Scholars Initiative.

September 8, 2010 Eminent Scholar Award: Kristi Anseth, Ph.D.
Kristi Anseth, Ph.D., Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator and Distinguished Professor, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado-Boulder, presented her keynote "Swell Gels: Engineering Biomaterials to Promote Healing" and received the 2010 MUSC Eminent Scholar Award.

July 22, 2010 Welcome Reception in Honor of Etta D. Pisano, M.D.
The MUSC Women Scholars Initiative co-sponsored a welcome reception in honor of Dr. Etta Pisano, MUSC Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean, College of Medicine.

June 9, 2010 Workshop: Promotion and Tenure
The MUSC Faculty Senate and the MUSC Women Scholars Initiative co-sponsored a panel discussion concerning promotion and tenure. Panelists included members from MUSC Colleges, members of the MUSC Tenure Committee and recently promoted and tenured faculty.   

June 7, 2010 A Farewell Reception in Honor of John R. Raymond, M.D.
The MUSC Women Scholars Initiative, the Office of Student Diversity, Faculty Senate, Trustees Leadership Academy, the Foundation for Research Development and the Office of the President co-sponsored a farewell reception in honor of Dr. John Raymond, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost. Read Catalyst article on Dr. Raymond's work at MUSC

April 9, 2010 Seminar: Stress Management with Dr. Brown
Joshua D. Brown, Ph.D., Clinical Assistant Professor in the MUSC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Director of Clinical Services at the MUSC Weight Management Center, discussed ways to better recognize the symptoms of stress and what to do to better cope with stress.

March 5, 2010 Seminar: School’s Out for the Summer! Now What? Childcare/Summer Day Camp Options for Your Kids
Representatives from Charleston County Parks, Charleston City Recreation and the MUSC Wellness Center presented their summer childcare and day camp programs open to kids in and around the Charleston area.   

February 24, 2010 Colloquium: An Update and Planning for WSI's Future
The MUSC Women Scholars Steering Committee provided updates on recent accomplishments and the future of the MUSC Women Scholars Initiative. Steering committee members discussed the restructure of the program and new projects.
